Infant Swim Survival Classes

This summer we had Logan and Dane enrolled in swim lessons, but not just any swim lessons, it was swimming survival lessons. For about 4 weeks, the lessons were Monday-Friday for 10 minutes each while being one on one with the instructor, who was amazing with them! Logan took to swimming right away and only had a few off days. However, floating was kinda tricky to him, but he eventually caught on and learned to love it and utilize it as a mode of rest in a long stretch of swimming (which is what they are taught to do).

Dane, on the other hand, did not enjoy the lessons at all until the last few days! He would cry almost the full 10 minutes each day (which is normal for his age), but he still managed to learn and master what was being taught. Since Dane has just started to walk, he didn't really learn how to swim just float. This method of Infant Survival Training does not believe in throwing the child in, but she would kinda plop him in and within in seconds he would flip to his back and float to the top. It was really amazing to watch!

In order to "pass off" their training they had to go through a lesson of swimming in summer clothes and then a lesson in winter clothes. They do this to mimic what it would really feel like if they fell into water accidentally and how the wet clothes can weigh them down. The boys thought it was weird at first to swim in their clothes, but then they really liked it! Dane actually floated better in winter clothes...he thought it was fun!

The lessons were such a great experience and each year we will do a refresher course to help maintain and continue to advance their skills. Now it is so much fun to go swimming and it really has given me a peace of mind. Not to say that we don't need to still be very careful and watchful when swimming...I just know that they know what to do to save themselves if they were ever in that situation...heaven forbid!

My Baby Logan is 3!!!

This birthday for Logan was so much fun because it was the first one that he actually knew what was going on and he was sooooo excited for it! He kept saying that on Saturday at Peter Piper his birthday is going to come out and he is going to get money and play the truck game (he would say the truck game VERY loud)!!! I don't know where or what his birthday was going to come out of or where this truck game is, but he was ecstatic when the party started! He had so much fun playing games with his "money", making his own personal pizza, eating cake and pizza, and running around with his cousins! The Ropers, Clark, Lindsay, Sam, Julie, and Jax made Logan's 3rd birthday very special! Thank you everyone for coming and for the very generous presents...he loves them all! I still cannot believe that my little baby is 3...I guess he is not a baby anymore:(

4th of July in California

This year for the 4th and to celebrate Julie's birthday (July 2nd) we went to California! Julie, Jaxon, and her boyfriend Marshall came with us. It was a lot of fun and we can't wait to go back! Here is a recap of our trip:

Disneyland and Julie's B-day

Newport Beach at Balboa (it was cold, but Ruby's on the pier was very yummy!)

4th of July Lunch (we drove back to AZ that afternoon so Disneyland fireworks were all we saw this year, but they were great!)
