Bye, Bye Tonsils and Hello Big Boy Bed!

After years and years (since high school) of monthly cases of strep throat/tonsillitis, it was finally time to get them out! I guess you are considered a candidate for a tonsillectomy if you have 4 infections per year. Obviously, I far exceed that criteria and since we have met our maximum out-of-pocket for the year with our insurance it seemed like it was the perfect time to be rid of this burden for good.

Well, it just happens that Logan decided that it was TIME for him to start escaping from his crib for the first time. He is 2 and we knew that this day would inevitably come, but did it have to happen the same time I was undergoing this not so fun procedure?! Of course, and now it was time to buy a BIG BOY BED!

We actually were delaying converting the guest room in to Logan's room and moving Dane into the nursery because we were considering moving to a bigger house. We had our house on the market and got an offer for near what we were asking within 7 days! We were shocked at how fast things were happening, but our opportunity to move quickly diminished when our house appraised for below the offer price. We would have had to pay quite a bit of money out-of-pocket if we still wanted to go through with the sale and we weren't having much luck finding a house we would like to move to. So after much thought, we decided it would be best to stay temporarily until we can't handle it anymore.

I am already almost there with the "can't handle it anymore" but we agreed to do some remodeling to help increase the value of our house, which sounds fun to me (that's what I am saying now:)! We really don't need to move until we have another baby, which will be my max occupancy for this house! I don't mean to sound snotty and I am SO grateful for our home and all that we have been blessed with, I just feel that it may be time to move on in the near future.

So to make a long story short, I have been moving, organizing, and cleaning out the guest room while I am in pain that would contend with child birth! I know, I know I am being crazy, but the anxiety of things not being "done" can definitely get the best of me even when I feel lousy. I did get chastised for doing this, by all family members and it did catch up to me like everyone said it would. About day 3 post surgery I was absolutely MISERABLE! I don't mean to sound like I am complaining or seeking pity or anything, but it just isn't getting better and I am shocked at how such a little surgery could cause so much pain!

In hind sight, I don't think I would have done it. At least not now with such young kids and Ben being so extremely busy. However, the surgery was FREE and I won't have to suffer from tonsil infections any longer! So it has its advantages. Normally, I would consider myself as someone with a high pain tolerance, but not anymore...I am a big baby! I never guessed it would be this bad, but everyone kept saying how much harder it is for adults to get their tonsils out and they were right! The doctor did say how severely infected my tonsils were and that they were really hard to get out and that I must have been in a lot of pain. So, all in all, I feel justified in my decision even though it is hard right now.

I really am fine, but I am on so many pain meds that I can't drive or go anywhere. So, Logan is getting cabin fever. Luckily, Ben's work is flexible so he is able to help a lot with the boys. Also, Jen has been helping a TON by picking up Logan and taking him to her house to play with her boys. Dane has been a little angel just hangin' out with mom and taking it easy. So, like I said, I REALLY am fine. I just can't wait to be able to eat normal food and just feel normal again.

I went to the doctor today and he prescribed me better, more effective pain meds, which are already making a difference. Hopefully, I will be back to myself again soon:) Wow, this has turned into a longer post than I planned and I am sorry if it seems scattered (my concentration isn't the best right now:) or a sob story for myself. I really hate attention, I just wanted to let my family and friends know what was going on right now.

The great news is that Logan LOVES his "big boy bed" and has had NO problem sleeping in it! Well, actually there has been one problem...he wakes up at like 5:30 every morning and busts into our bedroom and hops in bed with us until we wake up. Which, as you can imagine, happens immediately since 2 year olds are SO quiet:) Other than that, he feels so big and special in his bed. He looks so cute and little in it. I can't believe how fast he is growing up...it makes me excited and sad at the same time:)

Ampa Visit #???

I lost count! Which I am so grateful for. I love how we get to see him so often. We truly are lucky that my dad has so much business in Arizona that we see him almost monthly! The boys absolutely adore their Ampa and always look forward to their early morning park trips together. This trip turned into kind of a wet one after the boys spent most of the time at the park running through the sprinklers. Luckily, our Arizona mornings are still in the 80's so, it was all in good fun:)

We love you dad and can't wait for your next visit!

Way To Go Matt!!!

This past weekend we went to St. George to cheer on Matt (my brother-in-law) while he ran the marathon. He went through a few rough patches during his 26.2 mile stretch, but he finished the race and that is all that really matters. Congratulations Matt on such an amazing accomplishment!
We stayed at Julie's house in Las Vegas for the weekend. It was fun to see sweet baby Jaxon again who is doing so well. He is so cute and such a good baby! Julie and John are really adjusting to parenthood well and we wish that we could see them all more often:(It was a fun weekend, but a lot of driving for such a short trip. However, we are glad we went to support Matt and spend time with family.Daners had a fun time cheering on his Uncle Matt:)
