My Chunky Monkey Is Not So Chunky Anymore

So, my little Daners had his 12 month appt. last week, which also ended up being a follow up from his ear infection. He has had back to back ear infections over the past month or so and the doctor said that if he gets one more in the next 3 weeks then it is time for tubes. My dad thinks that it is cruel and unusual punishment to wait for him to get another one and experience that excruciating pain again. Granted he is speaking from what he did with us as kids and when getting tubes was what everyone did in the 80's. I do know that he has his grandson's best intentions in mind and I love him so much for caring, but I can't help feel like I am a bad mom! However, I want to trust my pediatrician's judgement. So, I guess I will just see how he does and hopefully he will be just fine.

At Dane's appointment you would never guess that he has been so sick lately. He was a little chatter box and showing off all of his tricks! He was clapping, waving, talking, blowing kisses, giving high fives, and just flirting with her like crazy! He is such a crack-up! I love his silly little personality! She checked his ears, lungs, nose, etc. and everything looked great!

As far as his development goes, everything was right where he needs to be except for something very shocking...his WEIGHT and I am not talking about him being over weight...he is UNDER weight!!! He is in the 37%...I can't believe that! He seems so chunky to me! I really don't usually get all worked up about the % thing because as long as he is healthy that is all that matters, but that stat really shocked me! Anyway, the doctor said that he is just fine and not to worry, which I am not, I just found that very interesting. As soon as he starts walking he will thin out anyway, but I must have mommy blinders on or something because he is my CHUNKY MONKEY at least for now regardless of any %:) Here are his stats:
  • Weight: 37%...so weird!

  • Length: 50%

  • Head: 69%

He is starting to turn into a little boy over night! He LOVES to play/tease Logan, which is so funny to watch! He loves to graze in his high chair, play with balls, watch Yo Gabba Gabba, balloons, read books, sing songs, give kisses, and be silly! I love this little guy soooo much!

Happy First Birthday Dane!

This is the aftermath of my little Daners loving his first birthday! That cake didn't stand a chance! He was, however, timid at first, but lick by lick he started kneading the cake like dough resulting in the catastrophic event shown above!

It's his party and he'll cry if he wants to especially since he just put the flame out with his little fingers! I know! I can't believe it happened either! Ben and I deserve the "Bad Parent Award" for not doing better at predicting the possibility that he would be so intrigued by fire. Luckily, it didn't leave a mark and he cried for but 30 seconds. Kids are resilient right? I can't help but laugh and feel super guilty at the same time. Definitely noted for future birthdays.
He got some great presents that Logan was equally, if not more, excited about. Thanks Clark & Lindsay, the Ropers, and Sam for the very generous and thoughtful gifts! Before going to our house for cake, ice cream, and presents, we went to Red Robin per Dane's request...he LOVES the bottomless fries:)Isn't Red Robin a great place? Your kids can scream, wrestle, and have balloon fights without anyone noticing and/or caring. I love family friendly restaurants.

Thanks Clark, Lindsay, Sam, Ju, Jax, and the Roper clan for making our sweet little Daner's birthday so special! This little boy is growing up over night! He is toying with the idea of standing and has been climbing stairs. He gets so proud of himself until he realizes he is stuck and cries for help.He is off of formula and drinking cow's milk, which is a stressful transition. He is trying to embrace the sippy cup, but having a double ear infection is not helping the situation any. So for now, we have taken a break until he starts to feel better...poor little guy:( We love our smiley little one year old so much and will update more on his status after his 12 month appointment next week.

14 Years

"Through tears and trials, through fears and sorrows, through the heartache and loneliness of losing loved ones, there is assurance that life is everlasting. Our Lord and Savior is the living witness that such is so." -President Thomas S. Monson

We love and miss our dear mother and think of her daily. We joyfully look forward to the day when we will all be reunited again. Until then, she is my guardian angel, role model, and serves as the root of my tesitmony in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
