Father's Day Weekend

For Father's Day this year, we decided to stay over night at The Hyatt at Gainey Ranch Resort in Scottsdale as a family. The sleeping situation is always difficult in hotel rooms, but the swimming pools and water slides were a blast with the kids!

Beau Beau LOVED jumping off the edge and showing off his swimming skills. A lot of people around us were shocked that our little guy could swim so well:)

Best daddy ever:)

The resort was a lot of fun and we spent the rest of Father's Day spoiling our amazing daddy! The kids LOVE giving presents:)

They also love making and giving homemade cards.

Happy Father's Day Benny! We feel so incredibly blessed that you are our daddy! Thank you for all that you do for our family and for being the most amazing husband and father ever! We love you and appreciate you so very much:)

Beau's Binky Bear

We always let our kids have their binkies WAY too long and Beau was no exception. With our new baby on the way, we thought it was about time to kick little Beau Beau's binky habit:) Our pediatrician suggested going to Build A Bear and having them stuff his binkies into his bear of his choosing. So, that is exactly what we did and he absolutely LOVED making his "Binky Bear"! Here we are creating the birth certificate:)
Enjoying his last few moments with his binky:)
We brought 9 binkies and he personally stuffed each one inside his bear. The worker was so cute with him and she kept saying how important it is for him to do it himself...sort of his way of saying goodbye. They actually do quite a few of these binky bears:)

Next, they put in the stuffing. Beau got to push the pedal to turn on the stuffing machine. He was excited!
He seriously loved every minute of the process.

Picking out Binky Bear's heart
and dropping it in:)
Sewing him shut. The binkies are securely inside the stuffing and you can actually feel the binkies when you squeeze the bear.
Beau Beau is in love:)
His new bear getting his first shower:)
Picking out the perfect outfit:)
Brushing his hair
Getting dressed
Tad-ah! Presenting Beau Beau's Binky Bear!!!
This is one happy boy that doesn't quite understand the magnitude of what he just committed to...bye bye binkies...hello Binky Bear!:)

We went over to the mall park after and Beau had a bawl playing with his new BFF!
Seriously so cute:)

So, on the way home he started asking for binky and we reminded him that binkies went bye bye and now you have Binky Bear. He fussed in the car a little, but seemed satisfied with just having his bear and blankie for the moment. Once we got home, he went ballistic!!! He was frantically searching all over his room for his binkies and after he couldn't find any, he starting hitting his head and saying, "no, no, no!" It was like he just realized what he had done by putting his binkies in his bear and he was in utter disbelief that he did that! Then he threw himself down to the ground in a full fledged tantrum. It was so sad to watch and I tried my best to calm him, but I could tell he was processing what had happened and realized that his binky days were over. After about 30 minutes of crying and me trying to calm him, he finally settled down. I rocked him, read him stories, and made sure he knew how much we love him. He fell asleep almost immediately with his blankie and Binky Bear snuggled up to him. Poor little guy:( I wanted so badly to just give him his binky and make him happy again, but it was time to be strong. One tough night was all it took and he seemed completely over his binky by the morning. We thought for sure he would try and rip open his Binky Bear to get his binkies out, but he didn't and has seemed to accept what had happened.
A couple of times he has asked for his binky, but quickly corrects himself and asks for his Binky Bear instead. He is seriously the sweetest little boy. I hate having to be the tough parent sometimes, but I know it is what is best for him and we love this little guy to pieces. We are so proud of our Beau Beau for staying strong and for being such a big boy:) Bye bye binkies and hello to our big boy who seems so much more grown up now without his binky constantly in his mouth. He talks so much more now...it is crazy!:) We should have done this months ago...such a great idea:)
