Kindergarten Time for Logan

Since the last General Conference when Pres. Monson announced the missionary age change for boys from 19 to 18, holding Logan back in school no longer sat well with me. The main reason that we wanted to hold him back was to prevent the limbo year after high school and before his mission. Now with the change, he can go on his mission almost immediately after high school...problem solved! Since Logan is also doing great academically and socially, we felt an urgency to get Logan into Kindergarten ASAP! Luckily, we found a wonderful Charter school with half day Kindergarten that would take him! Here he is on his first day!

The sadness of my first born going to Kindergarten is sinking in, but I didn't get much time to think about since it was such a quick decision! I am very thankful that it is half day so I can get used to this whole school thing and still have my baby the other half of the day:) Logan LOVES Kindergarten and has friends in his class from a past preschool class and from church, which is wonderful! We feel great about our decision and we really like his school. He is being challenged, but not more than he can handle. He has learned so much already and got a 100% on his first test ever! Way to go Logi! You are such a big boy!

Pumpkin Patch with the Ropers

My Little Nap Sneaker

Daners is our little night owl. He has somewhat grown out of naps, but still so badly needs one or he is so onry. But, it is a trade off. If he takes a nap then he will not go to bed until even as late as 10:30 pm. He is put to bed at 7:30 pm just like our other two boys, but he will play in his room until he falls a sleep whenever that may be. So we have found, that if we keep him from taking a nap all day, he will go straight to sleep at 7:30 if not earlier. But, if he goes to bed that early, he will wake up around 5:30 or 6 am and wake up the entire house with him!
So, either way it is hard. But, the hardest part is trying to keep him from "sneaking a nap" as we say. He is so funny, when he is tired, nothing will get between him and his sleep! He will sneak off to different places in the house and curl up with blankie and zonk out. Usually, these sneaky naps take place in the late afternoon when no one is noticing. I caught him the other day curled up like a little cat on the chair sawing logs! I get so frustrated trying to keep him from taking a nap all day and he gets soooo frustrated with me when I quickly wake him up and he does NOT wake up easily! Ben and I have grown to accept that he is innately a night owl and doesn't require as much sleep as our other two boys do. Nonetheless, we are trying our best to keep our silly little stinker on a normal, healthy sleep schedule as much as possible:)
