Beau Bugs 1st Birthday in Cali!

I know this is a total cliche, but I CANNOT believe that my Beau bugs is already 1 year old!!! Here is what's going on with my little guy:  He is such a sweetheart and his little smile makes my heart melt:) He is so easy going and soooo happy! He adores his brothers and LOVES to play cars with them and follow them around the house. He is OBSESSED with his blankie! His favorite book is "Pat the Bunny." His favorite song is one that I made up that starts, "Hey boy, whatcha doing?" and has a part in it that he claps along with...he loves it!

He is saying "uh-oh", "mama", "dada" and loves to growl like a dog or he may be mimicking a car vrooming. He is pointing at everything and telling us big stories in his cute little baby babble. He can wave, clap, high 5, do the sign language sign for "more", he is learning how to blow kisses, loves to give big wet kisses, is now crawling supper fast, cruising furniture, and is toying with the idea of walking by crawling with straight legs. He loved rice cereal, rolls, tomato soup, and almost all baby food especially squash, pears, and sweet potatoes.

He unfortunately is continuing to get ear infections, so he is set to get tubes put in on April 4th. Due to the chronic ear infections, the ENT recommended avoiding dairy. So, he started rice milk, which he kind of likes and has said bye bye to bottles:) He also has eczema and asthma...I am sad that he has inherited my allergy issues, but overall he is very healthy! He is going through separation anxiety  a little right now and has become quite the mama's boy. He is no longer a baby anymore...tear:(

Here are his stats from his 12 month Well Check visit:

  • Weight: 20.5 lbs (36%)
  • Length: 30 in (55%)
  • Head: 18 in (39%)
Since we were still in CA for Julie and Chris' wedding, we celebrated Beau's birthday there. He actually shared his birthday celebration with the groom, Chris, whose birthday is also March 9th. We started the day by going to breakfast with the Ropers then went over to my Aunt Becky's house in Irvine. My grandparents were also there for the wedding and we all went to Laguna Beach to hang out for a few hours. That beach is so beautiful and we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The kids wanted to swim in the ocean, but since it was chilly and we needed to be to Chuck E Cheese in a few hours, they weren't allowed. Ha ha, as you might guess, they still managed to get pretty wet...especially Logan!

Beau was loving spending time with his Great Granny C!

Disneyland!

Since we came to California for Julie and Chris' wedding, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to go to the happiest place on earth...Disneyland! We came to CA earlier than most of our family so that Ben could have a lunch meeting with a business associate in Irvine. He actually had to leave us at Disneyland for the meeting. Luckily, he was only gone for about 3 hours...3 LONG hours to say the least!!! Knock on wood, it wasn't too bad:) Beau was strapped to me in the Baby Bjorn, Dane was on a leash...literally, and Logan was my big helper. Most of the time, Logan would lead Dane around with his leash and Dane surprisingly didn't mind...he loved it! We were quite the sight, but we survived and not only that, we had fun! We spent our time in Fantasy Land and Toon Town, which was great because it wasn't very busy at all so we were able to go on a lot of rides. We also got to take some pictures with Pluto and Goofy, which doesn't happen too often:) The kids actually ran around and played with Pluto in Toon Town...they had a blast!

 Chasing Pluto:)

Yay! Daddy to the rescue! We were all so happy when he came back!

Dane was terrified on most of the Fantasy Land rides. I don't blame him...I am scared too! Luckily, his big brother was there to comfort him on the Alice in Wonderland ride:)
We had a wonderful day and we all left exhausted!

Another End to a Great Soccer Season!

Logi just finished up his 5th soccer season yesterday. He LOVES soccer and is getting better and better with each season! This season, he has become quite the team player and is just as excited for others when they score as when he does himself, which is so wonderful! He also is great at stealing the ball back, making assists, scoring, and playing goalie. Unfortunately his coach of the past 5 seasons is moving to CO so he will have a new coach next season and be with new kids. But, he should still be with his friends Mackenzie and Nicholas, which he is excited about. Ben was the Assistant Coach again, but probably not next season with changing teams. Ben is so sad...not too sad;) I am sure he will do it again the future.
Logan and Nicholas
 Go #5!!!
 He is getting fast!
Playing goalie
 Daners is Logan's biggest fan!
Logan had a great last game and even though he didn't score this time, he was an amazing team player and made a lot of plays and blocks! After the game, all of the kids went to Barro's for a pizza party to celebrate another great season. Logan was given a trophy and medal, which he has worn all weekend! He is so proud! Hours after the party, Logan started to feel sick again (it has been on and off for over a week now...he will be going to the doctor's on Monday). So, he wasn't able to go to church today, but he has still been wearing that medal all day! So cute!
Good job Log on another successful soccer season! We love you so much and are so proud of you!

My Sicky Baby

That is what my mom always called me and my sisters when we were sick. So naturally, that is what always comes out of my mouth when my boys are sick:) Poor little Beau Bugs has been following Dane's path of chronic ear infections, coughing/ wheezing, and inherited Logan's eczema:( In the past 11 months of his little life he has had 5 ear infections and 2 cases of respiratory distress!
Still in good spirits even though he is a Sicky Baby
After our last trip to the pediatrician this week, our doctor determined that enough is enough and that is was time for tubes! In the mean time of scheduling an appointment with the ENT, the doctor gave baby beau 3 consecutive daily injections (yes, we had to go to the doctor 3 days in a row!) of Rocephin since he failed the strongest oral antibiotic (Augmentin) for most stubborn ear infections. Baby Beau's cry while receiving that injection still haunts me! It is not like your typical immunization injections because it is thick and has to be injected slowly, which = lots of pain:( It helped when I gave him ibuprofen before the injection, but he still was ballistic for about 20 minutes after each shot...*tear*:(
Luckily we were able to get into the ENT on Friday and his pre-op appointment is in about 2 weeks. In the meantime, I am praying for no more ear infections! We are giving him daily Zyrtec, suctioning his nose constantly, running the humidifier, and trying to limit his dairy (I guess dairy is linked with chronic ear infections, but this one might be tricky). Fingers crossed that he stays in good health! It absolutely breaks my heart to see him sick and in pain, but right now, Rocephin has done the trick...thank goodness!
