Last week, Logan and Dane just finished their second year of infant survival swim lessons. Since Dane didn't learn how to swim last year, it took him 6 weeks to master the "swim, float" technique, which he was great at! Logan took only 2 weeks because it was mainly a refresher course and he really remembered everything that he had already learned very quickly. The boys adored their instructors (Ms. Holly and Ms. Jenny) and had so much fun going even though the lessons can be pretty strenuous. I really feel like they are ready for the swim season, which is the majority of the year here in sunny AZ!
Having a pool with 3 little boys is a bit unnerving, that is why we had the boys go through this course as just one of the safety measures that we have taken to prevent, heaven forbid, a drowning. We also have a pool fence with two locks, a pool alarm that sounds when someone is in the pool, and we are going to install an alarm system in our house that alerts when a door opens and tells you what door it is. However, with all of these layers of protection nothing will be more important than our strict supervision as parents. Having a pool is fun and scary at the same time. This is our first go at it and if we don't like it then we won't do it again...I will let you know how the summer unfolds!
Here are pictures from their last day of lessons. Beau and I came to watch while Ben got in the pool with the kids to learn some of the instructional techniques. The kids were really excited to show me their moves and I was so proud to see them do such a great job! Thanks Ben for taking the boys 5 days a week (for 10 min lessons per kid each day) for 6 weeks so that Beau and I could stay home. You're the best daddy!
